The construction site superintendent plays a crucial role in the success of any construction project, especially in Quebec, where standards and regulations are stringent. At Construction Doverco, we are looking for the perfect candidate who will be responsible for the overall supervision of daily activities on the construction site, including coordinating work, managing teams, and ensuring that the project progresses according to plans and specifications. The site superintendent acts as a central point of contact for all project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors. They are responsible for communicating expectations, resolving issues, and ensuring that all parties work together harmoniously.

Required Qualifications

  • Ideally, 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in the construction industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and plan effectively.
  • Excellent proficiency in reading plans and specifications.
  • Proven leadership and high availability.
  • Bilingualism (French/English, oral and written) is an asset.
  • Mobility for assignments in Quebec is an asset.

Main tasks:

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Site Superintendent will be responsible for the overall management of activities on the construction site:

  • Identify material, supply, and labor needs.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and organize the work of teams on site.
  • Plan and manage the work of subcontractors, various specialties, and other trades.
  • Establish efficient work methods to meet deadlines.
  • Resolve site issues and implement solutions to optimize productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and ensure their implementation.
  • Participate in the site start-up meeting with the project manager and develop detailed and periodic schedules.
  • Collaborate with the purchasing and logistics departments to order the necessary materials and equipment.
  • Attend coordination meetings with clients or their representatives and provide required follow-ups.
  • Supervise construction sites and ensure compliance with safety rules and measures.
  • Complete and submit timesheets to the Human Resources department.
  • Receive and manage delivered materials according to established procedures.
  • Maintain “as-built” plans and ensure administrative follow-up according to procedures.
  • Supervise the site inventory (equipment, tools, materials) and transmit information to logistics.
  • Organize site demobilization and coordinate transfers with the logistics department.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of the final project report.
